On 10 April 2026, Lawyeon Visa & Immigration Center (Law Firm Lawyeon) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Office of External Cooperation at Chosun University on legal support for international students, and on the same day delivered a special lecture on Korean law to enrolled international students.

Signing of the MOU

On 10 April 2026, Lawyeon Visa & Immigration Center signed a memorandum of understanding with the Office of External Cooperation at Chosun University to support international students in maintaining a stable study-abroad life in Korea.

The agreement is aimed at providing professional support for the legal and residency matters that international students encounter while living in Korea, so that they can focus on their studies. The two institutions agreed to cooperate on legal-education programs for students and on legal support including visa changes.

Key terms of the agreement

Under the MOU, the two institutions will cooperate in the following areas to help international students maintain a stable life while studying in Korea.

1
Legal education for international students
Education on the Korean laws that students must understand while living in Korea, including the Immigration Control Act.
2
Legal support including visa changes
Cooperation on visa matters — such as changing from a student (D-2) status to a post-graduation status of stay — and other legal support.
3
Support for a stable study-abroad life
Joint support for the legal issues that arise across residency and daily life, so that students can focus on their studies.

Special lecture on Korean law

On the day the MOU was signed, a special lecture on Korean law was also delivered to international students enrolled at Chosun University.

The lecture introduced the visa pathways available after graduation and covered the core content of Korean law, including the Immigration Control Act. It focused on the procedures students actually encounter — from managing their status of stay during their studies to changing their status of stay according to their career path after graduation.

International students who complete their studies in Korea have a range of residency pathways that allow them to stay and work or run a business in Korea rather than returning home. Because the requirements and procedures differ for each pathway, it is important to identify the visa route that fits your career plan well before graduation.

Continuing support

Building on this agreement, Lawyeon Visa & Immigration Center will continue to provide legal education and legal support on visa and residency matters, so that international students at Chosun University can pursue their studies and careers in Korea with stability.

Matters concerning post-graduation career planning and changes of residency status are supported by experienced attorneys together with immigration specialists.
